Privacy Policy

Map of Switzerland

Effective: 17 September 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Map Apps handles information in connection with Map of Switzerland (the “App”). The App is designed primarily as an offline map for Switzerland. You do not need to create an account or provide your name, phone number, or email address to use the App.

In short: core map and search functions are designed to work offline. Location is used for location-based features when you grant permission. The free version may show advertising. Premium subscriptions are handled through the app store and RevenueCat. Map Apps does not receive your full payment-card details.

2. Information processed by the App

Location

If you grant location permission, the App can use your device location to show your current position and support location-based map features. Core location processing is performed on your device. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; the offline map and many other features will continue to work.

Offline map, search, favorites, and app settings

The App includes map/search data stored on the device. Searches, favorites, measurement points, and app settings are generally stored locally on your device unless you explicitly use a feature that sends information to another app or online service.

Online features

Some optional features require an internet connection, for example satellite imagery, online place information, advertising, subscription status, or links opened in external services. When you use such a feature, the relevant third-party provider may receive technical request information such as your IP address, device/app information, requested map or place data, and other information required to provide that service.

Route and sharing actions

If you choose Route, Share, or a similar action, the App may hand information such as a selected location or coordinates to another app or service chosen by you. The receiving service processes that information under its own privacy policy.

3. Advertising, consent, and tracking choices

The free version of the App may display banner and full-screen advertisements using Google Mobile Ads. Google and advertising partners may process information such as device identifiers, advertising identifiers where available, consent signals, IP address, general device/app information, diagnostics, and ad interactions in accordance with applicable law, your device settings, and your consent choices.

On iOS, App Tracking Transparency (ATT) may be presented when required for advertising-related tracking. Refusing ATT permission does not prevent the App from functioning and does not necessarily prevent all advertising; ads may still be contextual or otherwise served without cross-app tracking.

Where required, the App uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request or manage advertising consent and privacy choices. If a Privacy options entry is available in the App, you can use it to review applicable choices.

Google’s privacy information is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

4. Premium subscriptions and purchases

The App may offer Premium subscriptions. Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on your platform. Map Apps does not receive your full payment-card number.

The App uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status and entitlements. RevenueCat may process purchase identifiers, product/subscription information, app/user identifiers generated for subscription management, and related technical information. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.

Premium access may remove advertising and enable additional features while your entitlement remains active. Subscription cancellation, billing, refunds, and renewal are also subject to the rules of the store through which you purchased the subscription.

5. Information you provide directly to Map Apps

If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, and any diagnostic details you include. We use that information to answer your request, investigate a problem, or provide support.

6. Third-party services

Those providers process information according to their own terms and privacy policies.

7. OpenStreetMap data

The App uses map data derived from OpenStreetMap and its contributors. OpenStreetMap attribution and licensing information is available at openstreetmap.org/copyright.

8. Data retention

Local app data remains on your device until you remove it, clear the App’s data, or uninstall the App, subject to normal platform backup behavior. Information sent to third-party providers is retained according to their own policies. Support emails may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, keep support history, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.

9. Your choices and rights

10. Legal bases where GDPR/UK GDPR applies

Where applicable, processing may rely on your consent, the performance of services you request, compliance with legal obligations, or legitimate interests such as operating, securing, supporting, and improving the App. Advertising-related processing is subject to the consent and privacy requirements that apply in your region.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the App. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

12. Children

The App is a general-purpose mapping application and is not designed to require children to create accounts or submit personal profiles to Map Apps. If you believe a child has sent personal information directly to us, contact us so we can review the request.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, its services, legal requirements, or third-party integrations change. The current version will be published at this page with a revised effective date.
